The Royal Selangor Special Edition

FIRST DAY COVERS

.

Renowned for our ability to create technologically innovative designs, Royal Selangor once again takes pewter to a new area of interest, into the world of philately.

.

Throughout the world, collecting first day covers has always had a strong following as they often commemorate important and significant occasions and therefore have considerable historical, educational and collectible value.

.

To mark the 1997 International Year of the Reef, Royal Selangor has designed a special edition first day cover.

Incorporated into the design is an intricately sculptured pewter cachet of a replica of the RM 1 denomination stamp featuring the brain coral (symphillia sp.) in sculptured relief.

.

In response to the encouraging demand, Royal Selangor has come up with two further special edition first day covers featuring the same pioneering technology which has set them apart from other traditional first day covers.

.

The Protected Wildlife First Day Cover comes with Niobium and Pewter cachets, each featuring an elegantly relief sculptured Arowana, the endangered species, in its natural habitat. The fish is cleverly finished to 'illuminate' the fish in all its natural glory and splendor.

 .

The Rare Fruits of Malaysia edition comes with Tantalum and Pewter cachets, and feature a delicately sculptured representation of the Assam Gelugur, a local plant which is reputed to contain medicinal and aphrodisiac values.
