Royal Selangor Distributorship Rights

Royal Selangor's unique concept of selling high quality pewter giftware is constantly renewed through our active research and product development. The continuity of innovative new designs launched in the major gift fairs world wide differentiates our products from our competitors and provides us the imagery to move into other important areas of our business such as corporate sales and wholesale distribution.

Our Business Model

We normally utilise distributorship arrangements as our business model in countries where Royal Selangor is not represented by its own office. Within this arrangement, distributors create flagship, stand-alone stores in upscale locations carrying our vast collection and providing the same level of exceptional Royal Selangor service. This method has proven to be very successful.

As A Distributor

A distributor may not necessarily have prior distribution, wholesale or retail experience but the financial resources to distribute, build flagship stores and promote the brand through advertising and promotional events is a must. A strong sense of brand positioning amongst competitors in the respective markets is an advantage.

Our prospective distributors have an affinity with our brand through buying or receiving our products or by visiting our stores and our manufacturing facilities.

We grant exclusive rights to a distributor to promote Royal Selangor in any given territory. Similarly, a distributor cannot market or represent any other pewter lines. Our existing distributors have enjoyed tremendous success in the Far East and Middle East.

Elsewhere, we operate our own stores and distribution companies in most western markets including North America, the United Kingdom and Australia.


The Birth of a Partnership

To start off the retail business, Royal Selangor provides substantial support to partners in terms of:
   Store location and site evaluation
   Store layout services
   Visual merchandising guidelines
   Marketing advice
   Employee Training - covering the areas of store operations,
   sales and product training

1. Overall assessment of the local giftware market with an analysis of the competition.
2. How you would position Royal Selangor against competitors.
3. Target customer demographics.
4. Short and long term plans for potential locations for stand-alone stores and the availability of such locations including lead time to open stores.
5. Evaluation of the retail and wholesale distribution opportunities in the giftware market, general economic conditions, consumer shopping patterns and so on.
6. Marketing strategy for brand development.
7. Public relations, advertising campaign and store launch plans.
8. Details of retail and business background of individuals supporting the Royal Selangor concept.
9. Annual sales targets for the next 5 years.
10. Annual product purchases from Royal Selangor for the next 5 years.
11. Credit references and any financials evidencing sufficient resources to develop the Royal Selangor brand in the territory.
