Kuala Lumpur’s iconic Petronas Twin Towers, the world’s tallest building from 1998 to 2004, officially opened on 31 August 1999. Designed by Argentine architect César Pelli based on classical Islamic geometry, it is the headquarters of the national oil and gas corporation, and home to the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra.
