Cloud Lidded Tea Bowl
Size: Teabowl H9cm including lid x Dia 10cm, saucer H2cm x Dia 11cm
A receptacle comprising saucer, bowl and cover, the gaiwan, or lidded bowl, developed in 15th century China as rituals for the preparation and appreciation of tea rose in sophistication. The porcelain bowl, on whose lid is a pewter finial, sits on a cloud-shaped pewter saucer with a sculpted central roundel.
