The Royal Selangor Trophy
The Royal Selangor Trophy is awarded to the golfer with the lowest total score in the four Major Championships each year. It is a 16-round competition which combines the four rounds from the Masters, the US Open, the Open Championship and the PGA Championship. To compete in the event, a golfer must qualify, play, and make the cut in all four majors.
The idea to combine all the 16 Majors Championship scores came about in 1999. A golfer who participates in the 288 holes played on 16 separate days of the Majors which is spread over 4 months has superior consistency and ability. This event might be considered an even greater challenge than any one tournament. The list of winners shows how few have been successful.
Having completed the Masters, PGA Championship, US Open, and Open Championship, the final scores of the 2024 Four Majors Championship are as follows:
X Schauffele (-32) S Scheffler (-17) C Morikawa (-15) S Lowry (-6) P Cantlay (E) R Henley (+1) Conners (+3) H Matsuyama (+9) H English (+10) B Koepka (+14) C Young (+17) N Hojgaard (+21) R Fox (+26)
2019 winner of the Royal Selangor Trophy is Brooks Koepka from Florida, USA with the total score of -36. The trophy recognises the golfer with the lowest 16 round score in the four Majors.
The 2018 Royal Selangor Trophy was presented to Justin Rose at Walton Heath Golf Club on 10 October 2018 by Peter Coleman, Director, Royal Selangor International. Justin Rose had the lowest score of -12 for the combined scores of the four Majors played in 2018.
2008 Royal Selangor Trophy winner, Padraig Harrington with Tan Sri Yong Poh Kon, the Chairman of Royal Selangor at the Maybank Golf Tournament.
Padraig Harrington won the British Open and Professional Golfers’ Association of America (PGA) Championships in 2008. He was the PGA Player of the Year and the European Tour Golfer of the Year the same year.

History
The event started in 1960 when Arnold Palmer played, and won the Open Championship.
That year he played in all three US-based Majors and made the cut in each tournament, so he was the first person to complete all Majors within a year.
Over time the importance of the Majors became established as the European, Asian, Japanese and Australasian tours expanded. Each year many tournaments are played worldwide, which contribute to the World Golf Rankings. The four Majors are, and will always be the most respected tournaments. Professional golfers and fans of the game rank players by their performance in the Majors.
Tiger Woods received the original trophy In 1999. The trophy was presented in Kuala Lumpur at a function before he competed in the World Cup that year, with Mark O’Meara.
Padraig Harrington, the 2008 Four Majors Championship winner. Padraig triumphed at the British Open and the PGA Championship. His exceptional performance earned him the PGA Player of The Year and European Tour Golfer of The Year titles.

Tiger Woods was the first recipient of the original trophy in 1999. It was presented in Kuala Lumpur at a function before he competed in the World Cup that year, with Mark O'Meara.
The first trophy was a Royal Selangor pewter bowl set on a rosewood base. The idea of the trophy was conceived by Colin MacGillivray, an architect working in Malaysia at the time. He assembled the trophy with names of the previous winners on the base, and arranged for its presentation to Tiger Woods. He had been compiling the total scores from the Majors for several years.
