Cabriole legs support a miniature mantel clock in satin finish pewter, its front face with bead and gadroon surrounding flourishes, floral motifs and architectural moulding. Roman numerals and elaborate hour and minute hands feature on its clock face.

First appearing in France in the 1750s, mantel clocks would remain in popular use throughout the world for about 100 years, its design taking on prevailing styles.
