2017 marks the final edition of the Formula 1 Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix. Since its inaugural running in 1999, Royal Selangor has had the honour of being commissioned by SIC to design and produce 11 editions of Formula 1 Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix winners’ and constructors’ trophies. The company has also crafted trophies for Formula 1 Grand Prix races in Singapore and China.

The 2017 trophy design maintains the bold contemporary look of its predecessors. The fluid motion of the chequered flag as it is waved before the winner is reimagined in a sleek sinuous frame. Nestled within it is a gold pewter panel with folds expressing the passion of drivers jostling for the winning position. When it is viewed from above, it resembles the entire SIC circuit

Whether it is a celebration of a successful venture or an achievement of a major milestone, each pewter accolade is as unique as the occasion they celebrate.

Celebrating Winners
Royal Selangor's trophies have made their mark at many world class events. Recent commissions include trophies for Shanghai ATP Masters 1000 and Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia Golf Tournament. Royal Selangor has also designed awards for prestigious lifestyle events such as the Suria KLCC award and Piala Sri Endon award.

Interior Architecture

Royal Selangor brings its expertise to the world of interior architecture through Metalesce. Metalesce fuses a thin layer of metal such as bronze, aluminium or pewter on substrate materials such acrylic and ceramic, creating a finished piece that simulates metal.

Metalesce metal coatings are produced using a patented, cold spray metallising process, utilising up to 75% pure metal. Layers of liquid metal are seamlessly fused onto substrate materials at room temperature. The properties of the metal are retained, and the finished product is durable, lighter and visually indistinguishable from solid metal.

The surfaces of metalesce products are sealed with a high-quality interior/exterior acrylic lacquer, keeping moisture out. This protective layer lasts for many years. Metalesce products can be used in interior design applications such as:
