Nathan Yong expresses the transmutable nature of water - solid, flowing, ethereal; visible, invisible - via a design language of austere restraint. Precisely regimented ridges, layered like veils of sheer fabric, create shifts and gradations in surface density suggestive of progression and transformation. With Vapour, Yong advocates the timelessness of pewter via modern objects for living.
Singaporean designer Nathan Yong heads an eponymous design consultancy and a furniture label, and counts Ligne Roset, Living Divani, Herman Miller and Design Within Reach amongst his clients. His work, inspired by observations of the visual environment, has featured in international design publications like Wallpaper*, Surface and Monocle. He is a recipient of consecutive Red Dot Concept Design Awards in 2006 and 2007, and the Singapore President’s Design Award in 2008.
