Elegant calligraphy, gleaned from the Museum’s stellar collection of calligraphic scrolls, surrounds Freeman Lau’s five-ringed caddy, aligning into names of the five venerated Chinese tea varieties on its lid; Dongding Wulong, Tie Guanyin, Longjing, Dongfang Meiren and Wenshan Baozhong.
Freeman Lau, a founding partner of Hong Kong’s Kan and Lau Design Consultants, is a graphic designer and fine artist, a frequent speaker at international design forums, and the recipient of the HKSAR government’s Bronze Bauhinia Star in recognition of his contributions in enhancing the identity of Hong Kong design.
About the collection A collaborative project with Taiwan’s National Palace Museum to reimagine its priceless collection of Chinese artworks and artefacts as objects for a contemporary lifestyle. Each piece carries the Museum’s logotype.
