Whilst the basic meaning of Irodori 彩 is to colour, it also alludes to the ability to affect something to enhance its beauty. The multi-coloured koi, bred and prized for its vibrant hues, is significant in Japanese culture, bringing beauty to all aspects of life.
A presentation case of century-old naturally fallen raintree timber displays the sculpture against a mesmerising blue black backdrop lacquered in the mine kumo nuri technique, a Zohiko innovation.
