Lakshmi rules as one of Hinduism’s principal goddesses, and counts wealth, joy, beauty, love and prosperity amongst the many attributes she symbolises. Depictions typically show Lakshmi dressed in a sari and draped in rich jewels, standing on a lotus pedestal. Her four hands represent the four aspects of human life most important in Hindu philosophy; Dharma or righteousness, Kama or desires, Artha or wealth, and Moksha, the liberation from the cycle of reincarnation.
